My Go To Travel Outfit.

My Go To Travel Outfit.

After a solid month in San Francisco, I’m officially back on the travel schedule with a mix of work and personal trips. Last week I had a quick trip to Portland, and flew to Boston last night on a red eye before heading to Mexico City on Thursday for my thirtieth birthday. Travel is one of my very favorite things and with my fair share of flights under my belt, I’ve got my travel routine down to a science, including a travel uniform that you’ll find me in on almost every single flight.

This waffle knit cashmere sweater from Everlane is the ultimate comfortable luxury piece. It’s warm and cozy for chilly plane temps, but also super versatile so you can not only wear it on the plane, but mix it into your travel wardrobe throughout your trip as well. I love the slightly boxy oversized fit and always layer a tee underneath in case it gets too warm (and also to keep the cashmere fresher for longer since it’s a dry clean only piece).

For daytime flights, I’ll pair the sweater with a pair of black skinny jeans, another wardrobe staple that works for both meetings and nights out while traveling. For red eye flights or long international trips, I’ll swap out jeans for a pair of black leggings for extra comfort, and always pair the look with Allbirds sneakers. If you haven’t heard of Allbirds yet, they’re 100% wool sneakers that are super comfortable and lightweight. The wool works to keep your feet both warm and cool, and has an anti-stink property to it which means you don’t even need to wear socks! They’re easy to slip on and off for getting through security, are machine washable, and also are the perfect shoe for sight seeing or a long day on your feet since they’re super comfortable.

The Patagonia Nanopuff Jacket is another travel staple of mine as it’s slim and lightweight and can pack up very small for stashing in your suitcase. It’s just warm enough for chilly weather (down to around 40 degrees) but is also very breathable for days when there’s just a little chill in the air and you need to add another layer.

I’m also a firm believer in always carrying on my suitcase, and love this Samsonite Carry On that I’ve had for years. It’s really light-weight and the hard-side keeps your items from being crushed and also prevents overpacking that can lead to your bag being too big for an overhead bin, the wheels roll really smoothly and the textured outside keeps it from getting scratched up. Best of all, it’s under $100 and can take a lot of heavy use (I’ve flown with mine on over 100 flights!)

And finally, Cuyana’s leather zip tote makes for the perfect personal item – the bag is roomy enough for your laptop and other in-flight staples, yet sleek enough to easily be the only bag you carry throughout your trip, whether it’s for work or pleasure. After bag spilling incident a few years ago with a tote without a zipper, the zip top is a must for me for when my bag is going through security or just stashed under my seat to ensure that nothing spills out and gets lost while in transit. The leather is also really high quality and can be monogrammed, making it an amazing gift for any lady in your life.
