DIY // sequin heart pins.

Sequin-Heart-Pins-3

This little DIY was originally created for our bachelorette weekend in Nashville – in lieu of wearing matching tshirts, I decided to create sequin heart pins for each of the girls (and gold for the bride!) to wear while out and about. They were a huge hit and a perfect little craft with Valentine’s Day just around the corner.

Here’s what you’ll need:

And here’s how to make them:

  1. Cut out your hearts from felt using the good old fold in half and trace half a heart trick
  2. Grab your hot glue gun and glue the start of the trim in the outside center of the heart
  3. Continue along the edge of the heart, gluing small sections and covering with sequin trim until you’ve created an outline. When you’ve reached where you started, create a second row and repeat until the heart is completely filled in
  4. When you’ve reached the end, snip your sequin trim and glue down final piece to have heart shape completely filled in with sequins
  5. Clean up any hot glue strings, flip heart over and use hot glue to attach pin to the center of the back

There you have it! The possibilities for these are endless – you can create smaller hearts and attach clips to the back to add some sparkle to a pair of flats or pumps, or attach to a headband for a little hair accessory. One thing I learned while making 10 of these is that when you’re working with a different color felt + sequins, it’s very important to make sure your rows are tight together (aka work slowly and carefully) to prevent the background from being seen.
